👟 Shoes was my first word (actually though). My current lineup across trail & road, a mix of shoes that feel good, hold up, and keep me excited to get out the door.

- adidas TERREX Agravic Speed Ultra Trail-Running Shoes by adidas — I keep coming back to these shoes. Super long trail runs you might want more general cushion, but I'd rock these for a hundo. Probably wore them for 100 miles of Cocodona.
- R1 by Mount to Coast — Super comfortable, I wore these for an impromptu road marathon and had zero regrets. Not the fastest shoe in the lineup, but great for daily miles. Also a go-to for treadmill runs. The R1R version rides a bit quieter.
- TERREX Agravic Speed Ultra 2 by adidas — Oh, so you wanna go fast? This is the shoe. It feels super nimble and responsive, and I tend to reach for it on faster training efforts and race days. Not a ton of cushion here, definitely more of a performance-oriented ride. I did end up sizing down a half size in this one.
- Nike Vomero Plus by Nike — So so cush! These are my favorite cruisers for training runs on pavement or crushed gravel.
- ProMorph Trail Running Shoe by Merrell — It’s a true road-to-trail gem that feels smooth on pavement but still confident once you hit dirt, making it an awesome one-shoe travel option when you don’t want to pack multiple pairs.
- Ultra Glide 4 Trail-Running Shoes by REI — Wore these trail shoes for 30 miles pacing and my feet couldn’t have been happier. I was skeptical about the lacing system at first, but it stays put and actually makes it really hard to overtighten. I packed light on a recent trip and ended up using these for everything… road, trail, and just daily wear. Super versatile. Grippy, but not overly aggressive.
- Speedgoat 6 GTX by HOKA — While I do find the Speedgoat a bit torpedo-shaped, it’s been one of the most consistently reliable shoes in my rotation since 2021. A dependable workhorse for training and long races alike. I actually panic-bought a fresh pair right before Rim to River 100, put one little shakeout run on them, then turned around and won the race in them with very few foot issues. Hard to argue with that.
- TERREX Agravic 3 Trail Running Shoe by Adidas TERREX — A fave in the trail rotation. A supportive shoe that can handle the gnarliest terrain.
- Cloudultra Pro Trail Running Shoe by Backcountry — Probably not worth the price tag. Super light and responsive. It might run a little narrow around the pinky toe, but overall it feels quick underfoot. The landing is soft while still giving some ground feel, and you can feel a bit of propulsion as you toe off. I like the updated braided laces, but worry the upper might not offer enough protection for really rugged terrain.
