Broken Arrow ~ The Ascent - Shelby Farrell
🏹 3.61 miles & 2,840 feet of vertical gain. Admittedly, this is not my typical distance, and I did not train specifically for it (VT100 on deck), but we just gotta full send and find out! Opting to go without poles because I don't want to deal with them on the ladder and scrambly bits on top! (Also, don't really want to fly with them...)
Shelby Farrell's expert gear recommendations on Rendezvu
Products in this list
- Random Amazon tank that I'm getting Rendezvu branding on by Amazon — Honestly, pretty pumped on this Amazon find. It's a flattering "long bra" aka cropped tank that isn't that cropped when you have a short torso. Ordered two to get Rendezvu branded.
- Women's Hypervent Wide Shorts by Craft Sportswear — Obsessed with these shorts that I found on EmKay Sullivan's Rendezvu profile. They have that gut-hugging effect of tights but the free flowy-ness of split shorts.
- Anti-Chafe & Skin Repair Stick w/ Frankincense & Lavender by Squirrels Nut Butter — It SMELLS SO GOOD! I call it my trail deodorant, but the bonus is that it helps my skin not rub itself raw on sweaty, humid days.
- Trail running socks by Sidas — Obsessed with all Sidas socks. These have an integrated grip band that helps with the connection between your foot, sock, and insole. There are reinforced zones around the ankle, heel, and toes to protect your feet, and the rest of the sock is super breathable.
- B01 Trail Running Belt by Dera Running — No commission, just genuinely hyped on this product. First dial-fit running belt I’ve used, and it legit holds two flasks without feeling like you’re wearing a floaty around your waist. The included flask fits perfectly and actually locks in place. Big fan of the longer zipper pull on the back pocket too, easy to grab from behind while moving. Also has little grippies so you can tuck a shirt through the back. Haven’t tested poles with it yet, but overall really impressed by how it manages to feel both stretchy and secure at the same time.
- adidas TERREX Agravic Speed Ultra Trail-Running Shoes by adidas — I keep coming back to these shoes. Super long trail runs you might want more general cushion, but I'd rock these for a hundo. Probably wore them for 100 miles of Cocodona.
- HYPERLYTE H1C by Hyperlyte — I love how easy the math is: 100g carbs, 1000mg sodium, 100mg caffeine. Let’s gooo. As someone who definitely appreciates a caffeinated product, this stuff hits. The flavor is mellow enough that flavor fatigue never becomes an issue, even deep into an effort. I’ve been doing one scoop per 500ml flask so far, but I could absolutely see myself two-scoopin’ it for harder days out there.
