- Who it's for
- Trail runners targeting races from short technical efforts (VK) to 100-milers and ultras, especially those who want one shoe that handles varied terrain. Also suits daily training on runnable to moderately technical trails.
- What people are saying
- Hosts consistently praise the grip (Vibram outsole), integrated gaiter, secure fit, and versatility across terrain and race distances. One host flagged the laces as a personal swap, and notes on cushion durability are largely positive, with only minor foam breakdown noted after ~500 miles.
- Worth noting
- The U-shaped carbon plate provides energy return without destabilizing on angled landings, per one host. The integrated gaiter/sock liner is repeatedly called out as a meaningful feature for keeping debris out on technical and muddy terrain.
Isabella Poulos's review
I wore these at Hilo and at the Telluride Mountain Run because I feel the most comfortable on technical terrain in these. Planning to have them as my backup pair of race shoes.

What other hosts are saying
11 experts recommend the Brooks Cascadia Elite.
I've used this shoe in every kind of terrain. Volcanoes in Patagonia, deep snow and ice through a Maine winter, glissading spring snow, rock hopping in the White Mountains and running through deep mud in Hawaii. The grippy Vibram outsole combined with the gaiter on this shoe makes it my go-to when I know I'll get into some fun terrain.
Recommended in Training Day!
This is THE trail shoe. It's fast, stable, and has just the right amount of cushioning. The carbon plate gives you great energy return without launching you off the trail if your foot lands slanted. It's a great race day shoe for both short and long races, but I also wear it in daily training.

I'm so excited to try this shoe

I'm on to my second pair with 500 miles on the first. I've only noticed a bit of breakdown in the foam. The lugs and upper are still fully functional . They're the lightest, and fastest trail shoes I've ever put on my feet.

This shoe does it all, for a race or a long day. It’s bouncy and fun to run in without a rocker or any bells or whistles. Brooks having a vibriam grip outsole shoe is a game changer!!

Big Brooks fan for the road. Gave these a test run and felt secure in the fit. Love the built-in gaiter. Personally would switch out the laces but everything else is great. Very grippy. Did ultras and longer sessions with these.

My fav racing shoe for fast less technical races.
Recommended in The Items I ACTUALLY Use and Love!
I have always loved more minimal trail shoe options. After trying the Cascadia Elite, I finally understood the importance of super shoes in trail. As soon as I saw brooks was launching this, I knew it would be amazing. I have used these in runnable fast trails to moderately technical and they have performed wonderfully.
