- ASSASSIN by Salomon — The Salomon Assassin is a solid all-mountain freestyle choice for intermediate riders and up who want a balance of play and precision. It can carve, boost side-hits, weave between trees, send it on the jump line, and stay afloat in pow. It’s one of the hallmark boards in the industry for freestyle versatility. Not too aggressive at all, but with enough guts to get you through most anything you’ll find at the resort with freestyle flair. I had a great time riding this board and it's a go-to choice when you want to be prepared for whatever the mountain throws at you.
- Mercury Snowboard - 2026 by Capita — I’ve been riding the CAPITA Mercury for the past 3 seasons, and I have not been disappointed. I originally intended it to be my “powder freestyle” deck only, but I ended up choosing it over my other boards way more than I anticipated. The biggest reason for this was versatility. On days when I was unsure of the weather, I reached for the Mercury. When I was meeting up with friends and didn’t know if we’d be hitting the park or hiking out the gates, I’d grab the Merc. And it's never let me down, whether it was impromptu charging, hot park laps, or playful groomer runs.
This board has solid snap for side hits, rollers, and park jumps. The camber profile, stiffer flex, and Death Grip keep you locked in on carves and are stable enough at high speeds to not feel the need to hold back. The rocker in the nose and tail makes the board a bit more playful for presses and spins while also making powder days a blast. I set the bindings back a bit on deeper days and never had any tomahawking or back leg burnout issues. It really surprised me with its powder prowess for being a directional twin.
The Mercury still has a good amount of torsional flex, which allows you to ankle steer and manipulate the board easier than other freeride options. This contributes to its overall freestyle spirit.
I’d recommend this board to confident intermediate riders and up who like to get sendy and go fast but still be playful. Its a great option for the rider who wants one board to do it all. So whether you’re smashing powder, boosting jumps, or laying trenches, the Mercury has you covered!
- Shadowban Snowboard - 2026 - Men's by Ride — I think the Ride Shadowban goes overlooked way too often, but it is a solid all-mountain freestyle ripper and one of the original quiver killers. Its mid-flex, directional twin shape, and camrock profile embody all-mountain freestyle versatility.
Soft enough for presses and butters yet stable enough to carve and stomp landings. Its response is amplified by the camber between the feet, which increases pop for ollies and edge hold for carving. While the rocker in the nose and tail allows for float in deeper snow, smoother transitions in and out of turns, and an overall more playful ride. The sidecut is also dialed, and you can feel the board lock in to carves and release predictably as you transition to your next turn. One of my favorite daily drivers for rad dads and all-mountain riders that want one board to do it all. Now it's not the most aggressive board out there, so if you're looking for something with a bit stiffer flex for bigger lines and more varied terrain, then you should check out its big brother, the Algorythm.
