    Who it's for
Runners prioritizing speed and nimbleness on trail, from shorter races up to ultras for those who tolerate a snug fit. Best suited to fast, relatively smooth singletrack rather than highly technical or loose terrain.
    What people are saying
Hosts consistently praise the springy foam, plate energy return, and grip for fast efforts, with several using it as their dedicated speed or race shoe. Key disagreement is on distance and terrain: one host cuts off at half-marathon due to toe compression, another has rolled ankles on rough trails, while others have taken it through 100-mile efforts.
    Worth noting
Fit runs narrow and can compress toes on longer efforts — wide-footed runners should be cautious. Foam and grip held up over a full summer of training miles per one host; quick-drying when wet is a noted bonus.

I keep coming back to these shoes. Super long trail runs you might want more general cushion, but I'd rock these for a hundo. Probably wore them for 100 miles of Cocodona.

    Hunter Tart, Ultra Runner/Trail Runner

I kinda treat these as my trail “speed” shoes. Feel super nimble but also stable for technical stuff. Good energy return. I don’t like them past like a half marathon. They’re just a little too narrow and start to compress my toes too much.

If I have a fast, non-techincal race, this is my go to. It's fast, but the trails need to be like butter otherwise I'll roll my ankle too many times.

I used the ASU as my primary training shoe from May to August. The springy foam and plate hold up over the miles and the grip was great for the San Gabriel singletracks.
