    Who it's for
Runners prioritizing speed on trails, from fast training runs to ultras, who have a narrower foot or can tolerate a snug fit. Best suited for well-groomed or moderate trails rather than highly technical terrain.
    What people are saying
Hosts consistently praise the springy foam, plate responsiveness, and grip for fast-paced trail running. Disagreement exists on technical terrain suitability — one host finds it capable and stable, another reports ankle-rolling risk on rough ground — and one host flags toe compression on longer efforts past the half-marathon distance.
    Worth noting
Fit runs narrow and can compress toes on longer runs; those with wider feet should size or try carefully. Note [2] appears to reference a different product (a boot), so only five of the six notes are relevant to this shoe.

    Daniel Weissauer's review

I used the ASU as my primary training shoe from May to August. The springy foam and plate hold up over the miles and the grip was great for the San Gabriel singletracks.

I keep coming back to these shoes. Super long trail runs you might want more general cushion, but I'd rock these for a hundo. Probably wore them for 100 miles of Cocodona.

    Hunter Tart, Ultra Runner/Trail Runner

I kinda treat these as my trail “speed” shoes. Feel super nimble but also stable for technical stuff. Good energy return. I don’t like them past like a half marathon. They’re just a little too narrow and start to compress my toes too much.

If I have a fast, non-techincal race, this is my go to. It's fast, but the trails need to be like butter otherwise I'll roll my ankle too many times.
