Quality Layers are the key to success in mountain environments. The weather can go from warm and sunny to cold and stormy in the blink of an eye! The best way to layer is 1. Base-layer (wool or synthetic, not cotton!) fits close to the skin to wick moisture. 2. Mid-layer (fleece, hoodie, puffy jacket) tailor your needed insulation to the conditions, breathable is best! 3. Outer layer (water & windproof) to protect you from the elements. Other highly recommended pieces - warm shoes, wool socks, sunglasses, suncreen, chapstick, water bottle.
