The weather can go from warm and sunny to cold and stormy in the blink of an eye! The best way to layer is 1. Base-layer (wool or synthetic, not cotton!) fits close to the skin to wick moisture. 2. Mid-layer (fleece, hoodie, puffy jacket) tailor your needed insulation to the conditions, breathable is best, sweat is the enemy! 3. Outer layer (water & windproof) to protect you from the elements. Other highly recommended pieces include warm & waterproof shoes, wool socks, sunglasses, suncreen, chapstick, water bottle, and a pack to store everything.
