8 experts recommend the REI Gel 100.

Jack Mislinski, Ultra Runner / Running Coach

An athlete favorite and very mainstream 25g serving using their highly marketed and well-tolerated hydrogel goop. Idk what it says about the customer base, or maybe just the adoption, but this is the gel I most see littered.

These are dope. Get a balance of the caffeine ones and the non-caffeinated. They go down easy, help you recover and are packed with carbs. Definitely taste a little weird at first but they are a hell of a lot easier to get down than regular gels.

One of my favorite gels for long runs and races. The Maurten Gel 100 has a unique texture that doesn't bother my stomach, even deep into an ultra when everything else starts sounding terrible. My preferred method is to take it down like an oyster—no chewing, just a quick swallow followed by some water. Simple, fast, and easy. The hydrogel technology seems to sit well in my stomach, allowing me to keep taking in carbohydrates without feeling overly sweet or causing GI issues. When you're trying to fuel for hours on end, finding a gel your stomach tolerates is worth its weight in gold, and this one has earned a permanent spot in my race kit.

My go-to training gel. Digestible, I don't mind the taste, caffeine-free (I'll just get that from my morning coffee). Training the gut, the easy way!

Maurten has been the only gel that doesn't get disgustingly overly sweet hours into a hard effort. I am able to get down more carbs with Maurten than other carb sources. Plus I love the flan-like texture and very mild flavor.

Pretty obsessed with Maurten gels right now. They sort of taste like marshmallows to me, and I like the gel texture more than I thought I ever could. Not too sweet which helps with pallet fatigue.
