M's 5" Multi Short by Janji — I wore these shorts for the Ultra Gobi 400K and they were perfect. The built in belt held all my nutrition and for the first time ever I had zero chafing during that 64 hour effort.
ULTRATRAIL FX.ONE by Leki — While not their lightest pole, these carbon fiber beasts offer the perfect balance between weight and durability. I used these for every step of the Cocodona 250 and they held up great.
M's Trekker Snappy Shirt by Janji — Breathable, stylish, and light. I love racing/running in this collared shirt. It takes the swag up a notch and also performs great. People underestimate how much that collar helps with sun protection too.
SOL Emergency Blanket by SOL — Required gear for most races. Cheap insurance in case shit hits the fan deep in the mountains
The HiFi Sock by Courier — I'm not usually a sock snob, but geez, these socks are amazing. Cushioned and breathable more than anything I have ever worn before. Love these socks - highly recommend.
**PRE-SALE** Roam 11 Hydration Pack by Tantrums — Perfect vest for a race with a robust list of required gear. Lots of space for jackets and headlamps, and such. Also incredibly comfortable. Fits like a glove with zero bounce and no chafe. My go-to vest for any major outing.
Nitecore HC60 UHE 1600 Lumen Rechargeable Headlamp with Carbon Battery 6K Extended Runtime Kit by Nitecore — This headlamp is incredible! Made it through 2 full nights at Ultra Gobi 400k last year. It puts out so much light - it's insane. Battery life lasts forever, especially with the auxiliary battery bank attached to the back of the lamp. Three modes of brightness for a tailored experience. Love this lamp!
Nitecore NU25 MCT UL 400 Lumen USB-C Rechargeable Multi-Temperature Ultralight Headlamp by Nitecore — Perfect backup headlamp to fulfill most required gear lists. Super lightweight and packable. Bright enough to get the job done if the main headlamp battery dies for some reason.
Nitecore NB Air Ultra Lightweight and Slim USB-C 5000mAh Power Bank by Nitecore — Wyoming range requires a battery bank as part of the gear. This is the absolute lightest battery bank I have ever found, at just 89 grams. It packs 5000mAh, which is plenty to charge a phone, watch, or headlamp in an emergency. This is my go-to adventure/race battery bank.
M's Trail Tight by Janji — You never know what big days in the mountains have in store for you, weather-wise. These Janji tights are lightweight and super warm. Perfect in case I find myself cold up in the high altitude. They live in my pack always.
FRONTIERSMAN FRONTIERSMAN MAX 7.9 oz. Bear Spray & Mountain Lion Spray with Belt Holster by FRONTIERSMAN — When you're running through grizzly country, you can never be too careful. Bear spray is required by the race, but hopefully I never have to use it. If I do encounter a bear, I will be glad to have it, though!
Outdoor Research Men's Helium UL Jacket Blue XL by Outdoor Research — The best waterproof jacket I have every worn. Decently affordable and incredibly light. This jacket lives in my pack for every alpine adventure now. After a DNF at Run Rabbit in 2025 due to a rainstorm I was unprepared for, you won't catch me dead without my jacket from now on.
Black Diamond Midweight Screentap Gloves Black M by Black Diamond — Gloves are part of the required gear lists for lots of races. I rarely use them, but when I do, I am so glad to have them. They are lightweight and virtually disappear in my pack.
Smartwool Active Beanie Blue by Smartwool — A warm hat is often required to be carried for part or all of big mountain races. This Smartwool hat is incredibly light and small, but also keeps my head so warm. I have been surprised by how often I break this bad boy out in the middle of long, cold nights mid-race.
H1 by Mount to Coast — This is my go-to shoe for anything offroad. It feels like a normal road shoe on asphalt, but then gives me plenty of grip on 99% of trails. This was my shoe of choice for the Cocodona 250 and the Ultra Gobi 400K. It feels light and responsive and performs spectacularly. Highly recommend.
