    Hunting - Christian Brooks

Christian Brooks's expert gear recommendations on Rendezvu

    Products in this list

    • S.3A - 20-40 / 24-52X67 by Maven — High end, compact spotter with excellent clarity at maximum zoom.
    • B.5 - 10x56 / 12x56 / 15x56 / 18x56 by Maven — I'm a big fan of 12x for Western hunting. So long as you have a reasonably steady hand, you can effectively use 12x as hand held optics. Of course, mounted on a tripod is where they will really perform well. With 12s on a tripod, I can often leave the spotter at home.
    • RS1.2 - 2.5-15x44 FFP by Maven — 2.5-15 is perfectly sufficient for practical hunting distances while still maintaining the ability to handle stalking duties in dark timber. Of course, the ability to dial up adjustments for longer ranges is a prerequisite. All in all, this is a perfectly sufficient optic for most hunters without spending a fortune. You can spend more, you can spend less, but that is a really great compromise for the price point.
    • Trango Alpine GTX by La Sportiva — Burly boot for difficult, high country terrain such as the nastier elk habitat and/or goat/sheep hunting.
    • PEAX BACKCOUNTRY DUO HEADLAMP by PEAX Equipment Co. — The brightest red light on the market. Excellent battery life, too.
    • Cimarron 4p 2.0 by Seek Outside
    • The North Face Men's ThermoBall Traction Booties Gray 9 by The North Face — Camp shoes/glassing booties. Put on a pair of mountaineering socks + these booties and you'll be able to stay in the field longer.
    • Darn Tough Men's Mountaineering Socks Gray L by Darn Tough — For late season hunts, I always have a pair of mountaineering socks in my pack. I put them on for glassing sessions, while eating dinner and occasionally sleep in them as well.
    • PEAK REFUEL Thai Chicken Coconut Curry - 2 Servings by PEAK REFUEL — One of my favorites. Pro tip: add Ghee + Sriracha.
    • PEAK REFUEL Beef Pasta Marinara - 2 Servings by PEAK REFUEL — The master of calories. Pro tip: add Ghee + crushed pork rinds.
    • Lobo's Triple S Pillow by LS Wild — Extremely light weight and versatile shooting bags. You can order them in blaze orange and attach to the rear of your pack to meet legal requirements + have a pack mounted shooting bag ready to go. Also doubles as a glassing pad and a pillow.
    • SILKY Gomboy Curve Folding Hand Saw Yellow by SILKY
    • Darn Tough Men's Hiker Micro Crew Cushion Socks Gray XL by Darn Tough
