    Climbing Clothing - Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson's expert gear recommendations on Rendezvu

    Products in this list

    • Men's Alpenglow Hoody by Black Diamond — My favorite shirt to wear for just about any type of climbing. Light, breathable, and helps protect against the sun. Hood fits over a helmet. Comes in a ton of colors. I own a bunch of them.
    • Men's Valley Shorts by Black Diamond — By far, my favorite shorts for climbing. They're light, breathable and stretchy. I've abused mine and they still look nearly new.
    • KUHL Men's Renegade Rock Pants by KUHL — My go-to warm weather climbing pants. A plethora of pockets, a bit of extra material on high-wear areas, but still breathable. Trim fit so you're not stepping on extra material while cruxing out.
    • Arc'teryx Men's Gamma Pants by Arc'teryx — I've owned these pants for 10 years. When I bought them, I couldn't believe I was going to spend that much money on a pair of pants. Safe to say, they were a good investment. They've been with me on every alpine climb in Colorado, Chamonix, and countless crag days and gym days. They're warm on chilly days, but not too hot on warmer days. They're incredibly durable and stretchy.
    • Plant-Based Square Polarized Sunglasses by Zeal Optics — Zeal chose a great name for these shades. They've been with me for years, up countless peaks and down endless ski descents. They're the perfect combo of technical and fashionable. A gentle wrap ensures minimal sun coming in from the sides without looking like Cyclops from X-Men. I've dropped them, bumped them, thrown them in my pack without a case, and they're still trucking.
