My Quiver and Kit - Carl Beach

For me, these three skis cover all the bases I need for skiing all over the world: a dedicated inbounds ski (Mirus Cor), a hybrid all-mountain ski (Ripstick 96), and a dedicated powder/touring ski (DPS). I primarily ski telemark, and 22Designs has been my go-to binding for nearly 20 years. The apparel kit is based on testing out many different jackets and pants over the years. For me, breathability and durability are key. HH and Flylow provide both of these qualities while Smith continues to provide excellent protection for the noggin as well as very clear, well-designed goggles.

    • black crows Mirus Cor Skis Orange 178 Cm by Black Crows — My resort skis (at 184 cm) for days between storms and spring turns. But I have taken them out on days with up to about a foot of powder, and I find they do quite well off-piste, making them a solid all-mountain ski for someone who spends most of the time on-piste (or in harder snow conditions) with the occasional soft-snow day.
    • DPS Skis Pagoda Tour CFL 112 Skis Yellow 168 Cm by DPS Skis — As primarily a telemark skier, the Tour version of these skis work incredibly well both inbounds and out for big powder days. They are still quite stable and float better than many skis I have had that were wider. Surfy, smeary, and very quick to pivot with the 50% rocker, these are so much fun when the snow gets deep. Definitely not the cheapest skis on the market, but the quality is incredibly high and the very strong plate underfoot keeps telemark bindings secure (as well as any AT binding).
    • Ripstick 96 Black Edition Ski - 2026 by Elan — My true "all-mountain" skis for softer days inbounds and more challenging days in the backcountry. Not the lightest to skin up, but I really appreciate how they perform on the way down. Go with the Black Edition for more stability and pop while the 96 regular edition is still very good (as well as a bit lighter) and can accommodate a wider range of skier abilities.
