TC Pro
“Fun pro tip: Get these a little big; your toes will thank you on a long and/or cold day. I know mine do.”

Prodigio Pro Womens
“La Sportiva has not traditionally worked for my feet, being too "euro" in their last. The Prodigio Pro was a very welcome change to this. A great midfoot hold, combined with a slightly wider, deeper toe box, means this shoe can fit a variety of people very well. The upper weave is very robust and secure, showing no issues on cambered trails, which can cause the foot to slip and move around. The foam is responsive and fun, but can feel a bit too soft for some on more technical terrain. One of my runners found that, during a 100-mile event, their lower leg swelled slightly (common) and the ankle collar put a lot of pressure on their Achilles, leading to problems. This has been the only complaint from a fit/upper perspective of the 15+ people I have recommended this shoe to.”

Katana Lace
“The Katana is an excellent climbing shoe for nearly vertical, steep, and slightly overhanging terrain. It’s stiff, precise, and confidence-inspiring. It’s the perfect shoe for the Gunks. I like the Katana in a “sendy size” for my hard trad projects. I have a second pair in a comfier size that I can wear on longer routes where I desire some comfort as well as performance.”

La Sportiva Men's TX Guide Leather Approach Shoes
“The TX Guides are the approach shoes I wear on a daily basis. They are durable, stable, and climb really well. I can spend all day guiding in the Gunks without ever taking them off. I also like them for climbing areas with long approaches and for routes where I know I won’t need them to walk off. ”

G-Summit
“Technically, I wear the G5 Evo boots, but you can't get them anymore. These are what I'm eyeing up next, and think they make the best upgrade from the Evos. I won't go back from BOA, and they climb and hike super well. I've done many 12+ hour days in them.”

Mantra
“Have been climbing on them since early winter indoors and have been very impressed. I sized down more than I normally do for rock shoes and am happy that I did. Even though they are slippers, they hold their downturn quite well. A great training shoe.”

Nepal EVO GTX
“Solid ice climbing boots at a reasonable price. There are fancier and more expensive boots out there but these will get the job done and keep your feet warm. I've owned two pairs of these and they both fit great right out of the box.”

Mutant
“A great sticky scrambling shoe. Runs quite well on technical trails. Was my go-to approach shoe for quite some time. Not super impressed with the durability, but a great shoe while it lasts.”

“This is a great budget-friendly shoe that still performs well on moderate terrain (up to 5.10a for most people)! The fit can be dialed in with the laces and/or adjusted on the fly when being worn all day.”

TX2 EVO Leather
“Less rigid and lighter, this is a great approach shoe to carry up climbs for the walk off. I don't find they climb quite as well as the TX Guide, but I find them more comfortable, and easier to wear over a long day.”

La Sportiva G-Tech
“An incredible boot. It climbs better than any boot that I have ever owned. It is light, walks well, and can even climb moderate rock terrain pretty well without crampons on. This boot is a bit lighter in terms of insulation than other boots, but I have never struggled with cold feet unless climbing in ridiculously cold weather (when ice climbing isn't even fun, like ”
