    Racing Essentials - Anna Louden

I don't take chances when it comes to racing. These products are my tried and true trustworthy faves

Anna Louden's expert gear recommendations on Rendezvu

    Products in this list

    • Crest 6 Hydration Pack by Tantrums — the first vest I've ever used with literally zero bounce. Also has a surprising amount of capacity - I fit the entire UTMB required gear list in this
    • Cascadia Elite by Brooks — Deciding what shoe I'm going to race in has never been easier. This one does it all from technical VK to runnable 100M and everything in between
    • Roctane Energy & Hydration Drink Mix by GU Energy — The easiest way to get in tons of carbs. I do 1.5x the recommended amount, so I'm getting 90g carbs in a single bottle
    • Liquid Energy by GU Energy — It's like magic. Pour 3 of these in a small soft flask and bam, you've sucked down 75g of carbs without even realizing it.
    • Ultratrail FX.One SL by Zur Startseite wechseln — the only pole I'd trust to take me around Mount Blanc
    • HC60 UHE by NITECORE — Incredible battery life, ultrabright, and surprisingly lightweight. The perfect headlamp for 110 miles around Mount Blanc
    • Resistor Sweep (Youth Fit) by Oakley — If you have a small head, listen up! This may be my best tip yet. Oakley KIDS sunglasses! They're made with the same exact lenses as the adult version - for HALF THE PRICE! And they look way less silly on my small face.
    • Cascadia Short Tight by Brooks — You can never have too much storage and these shorts come with a full waistband AND two side pockets. I've fit a windbreaker, 500mL bottle, phone, and 4 gels in these shorts!
    • Propel Mesh Hat 2.0 by Brooks — I always struggled finding a hat that fit my small head well, but this one is perfect! The bungee adjustment allows you to quickly tighten it on a windy ridgeline, or loosen it a bit on the fly...At this point I'm starting to think I need a dedicated board for "Perfect for small heads" gear
    • GU Flask 150ml by GU Energy — Tired of trying to open gels while running fast or carrying around tons of empty gel wrappers? These flasks fit 3 GU Liquid Energy gels, and make my race day nutrition so much simpler
