    Backcountry Skiing - Alexi Most

Alexi Most's expert gear recommendations on Rendezvu

    Products in this list

    • Radical Pro Alpine Touring Boot - 2026 - Women's by Dynafit — This boot is sick. It's light, and decently performant. The walk mode has amazing range of motion. I have walked (no skis, literally walked) a 6 mile day in it and it felt fine. It has also held up incredibly well to the...rough...abuse of snowmobile days and rock scrambles.
    • Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis by Blizzard — This ski is super light and skis pow REALLY well. It's also taken me on plenty of ice/crud/dirt/creek-crossing missions and held up just fine.
    • Pomoca Tour Pro Climbing Skins by Pomoca — These skins have survived hot nights in a car, cold nights in a Forest Service cabin, being scraped over branches, being stepped over rocks, being balanced over creeks, and living wet in a pack for weeks when I forgot about them (whoops). They glide well and they stick well.
    • Stash Pro 32L Pack by Backcountry Access — Pouch for avy gear that has a drain hole? Sick! Google pouch? Hip pockets? Rad! Back zip? Insanely useful when I need to reach something at the bottom without strewing my gear all over the hill. This pack serves me for any backcountry day.
    • Cyrius X REACTIV Goggles by Julbo — I hate changing lenses. It's time, it's precision, and it's extra room in my pack that I could instead put snacks. These goggles have worked for me at night, and during a cloudless day.
    • Flylow Men's Baker Bib Pants by Flylow — I wear these in the cold because they're insulated, and on warm spring because they have vents. Also: SO many pockets!!!
    • Backcountry Access Dozer 2H Avalanche Shovel by Backcountry Access — I use it because it has "hoe mode", just like me
    • Bootie 2.0 by Backcountry — My feet get cold, BUT NOT IN THESE. Seriously, if it's above 20 deg F my feet sweat wearing these. Super comfy after being cold and walking all day.
    • Lined Heavy-Duty Premium Grain & Suede Pigskin Ski Mitt with Omni-Cuff™ by Kinko — Are these the warmest mittens money can buy? No. Are they warm? Yes. Are they cheap? Yes. Can you bribe your friend to draw cool designs on them and then show them off to cute lifties and ski patrol? YES.
    • WOMEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT BASELAYER LEGGING by BASELAYER — I'm cheap...I wear these leggings 9/10 days touring because they work just fine.
    • Alto Light HS Hooded Jacket Women by Mammut — Functions exactly as a shell should, pit zips for extra ventilation, and bonus points that it matches my boots :)

  1. Men's Merino 150 Anatomica Boxers by Icebreaker — It's so hard to find wool boxers, these are great.
  2. Women's Merino Blend 125 ZoneKnit™ Racerback Bra by Icebreaker — A bra that's wool (so it doesn't smell on multi-day trips), that's also comfortable AND fits? Crazy.
  3. Women's Merino 200 Oasis Thermal Shorts by Icebreaker — Great for cold winter days when you need just a little bit more insulation.
  4. ST Rotation 10 Binding (120 mm) by Touring Skis Unisex — They ski pow great, but most bindings do. These are also rock solid on ice, corn, spicy skin tracks, and scary creek crossings.
  5. BCA Stealth™ 240 Carbon Avalanche Probe 2026 by Backcountry Access — Pretty darn important piece of gear in my touring pack.
  6. Barryvox by Mammut — Super easy to use and "flagging" feature is very important to have.
