    Christian Brooks's review

I'm a big fan of 12x for Western hunting. So long as you have a reasonably steady hand, you can effectively use 12x as hand held optics. Of course, mounted on a tripod is where they will really perform well. With 12s on a tripod, I can often leave the spotter at home.
